Benefit runs mark 9-11 anniversary

Proceeds benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the Alamo Chapter of the Association of the United States Army and USA Cares. During the Run for Remembrance 9-11 Relay and Ultra , runners (individuals and nine-person relay teams) will run a one-mile loop for nine hours and 11 minutes, from 10 p. m. Saturday until 7:11 a. m. Sunday. The 5K starts at 5 p. m. Sunday at Al Becken Pavilion, McAllister Park, 13102 Jones Maltsberger Road. After a memorial service to commemorate the attacks, the 5K will start at 9:45 a. m. Sunday at the Alamo. The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run is named for a firefighter who died in the twin towers. The event benefits Soldier's Angels, a nonprofit that supports members of the U. S. military and their families. These running events not only are a way to observe the 10th anniversary of 9-11, but also to raise money for worthy causes:.
